Joanne's Sunday Perks

Dental Tales of Love, Adventure, and Fun

I am late sending this week's note out to you because I planned to talk about an event I attended last night; "The Freddy Ball'. It is an awards ceremony for the New Jersey Fred Astaire Dance studios, and it was a formal event. The men wore black suits and tuxedos, and many of the women wore full length ball gowns. I wore a black dress with sparkles; the hem fell below the knee with feathery extensions that almost reached my ankles. I am so glad I wore that dress because it was easy to dance in. The highlight of my evening was the opportunity to salsa with my dance teacher. Who ever thought I would have the chance to dance with a professional dancer in a fancy ballroom at a gala event? The dinner was delicious, filet minion. It was an altogether good time and a good departure from my normally mundane social life. When our dance studio won an award for most improved studio, we immediately stood up and cheered. We are small, but full of enthusiasm.

Have you seen the movie? It is a classic, full of magnificent dance routines and comedy, with a fun plot. Put it on your movie list, in black and white, highly recommended.

Midwest Book Review

I am pleased to announce 'The Platinum Bicuspid' is one of the two romance novels chosen for the January issue of Midwest Book Review. The publication is used by libraries as an independent resource for books they may consider for their collection. This is exciting news and means my novels will be more widely read. I am always looking for new readers! Below is his critique:

Critique: Original, unique, and a deftly crafted blending of romance, suspense, humor, and dentistry, "The Platinum Bicuspid" by author Joanne Henning is an especially and unreservedly recommended pick for personal reading lists and community library Contemporary Romance and Action/Adventure Fiction collections. It should be noted that this paperback edition of "The Platinum Bicuspid" from JD Henning is also readily available in a digital book format (Kindle, $3.99).

Have a great week. I'll talk to you soon, Joanne

Joanne's Valentine's Day Perks Dental Tales of Love, Adventure, and Fun 'Love is patient and kind; love is never jealous, or conceited, or proud, or provoked; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil but is pleased with the truth. Love never gives up; it's faith, hope, and patience never fail.' Since the beginning of time, musicians, poets, and novelists have described love, but the pure, unadulterated description can be found in the Bible. Love comes in many forms,...

Joanne's Sunday Perks Dental Tales of Love, Adventure, and Fun Does life ever seem like Groundhog Day? Every year the same thing happens; I forget the event, and then without fail on February second, I see it live on TV from Gobbler's Knob in the town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. I do not seek it out; it simply appears on the news while I'm having my morning coffee. Does anyone else think the whole thing is crazy? I suspect Punxsutawney Phil does. A sleepy-eyed groundhog awakens to a crowd...

Joanne's Sunday Perks Dental Tales of Love, Adventure, and Fun Do you have a favorite event at the winter Olympics? This year they will be in northern Italy; the opening ceremonies will be February 6, and the games will conclude on February 22. If you enjoy sports, it's a better choice than most programs offered on TV. We may all have memories of Olympics in the past, like the miracle on ice in 1980, or visions of Dorothy Hamill or Scott Hamilton competing in figure skating. But I have had a...
