Joanne's Sunday perks

Dental tales of Love, Adventure, and Fun

Friday, March 20 was the first day of spring, but the residents of New Jersey are waiting for the weather to cooperate. The snow has melted but when I walk with my neighbor, I have to avoid icy patches in the morning. I would like to include a photo of flowers, but so far, there are none. The forsythia bush is contemplating its annual burst of yellow, but after years of spectacular crocuses, this year, we only have one flower. The only current flower picture I have is of my upcoming cover for book one, and a recurrent theme will be rose petals on the cover.

It was fun working with the cover designer, Rebecca Finkel, and it is amazing how a designer and an author collaborate to achieve an aesthetic representation of the story. Roses and rose petals are symbols of romance and love, but an early expression of any romance is holding hands. The most valuable tool of any dentist - their hands. I don't remember how the hands were first suggested, but they had to be attractive, and expressive. I think Rebecca achieved that goal.

I have spent my weekend taking one last look at 'Faulty Impressions', have made a few adjustments to the author and copyright page, and after two years of writing and learning, it has finally reached the final product. The next step is a cover for book 2.

This is a sneak peak of the new cover, and I expect copies will be available on Amazon sometime this week.

The Beginning of a Series

Faulty Impressions

A new look for book one

An author friend who I correspond with took a class that suggested the first book in a series shouldn't be written until at least four books are in mind. Once again, I have broken all the rules. I honestly thought 'Faulty Impressions' would be my only book. But writing is like reading. If you enjoy one book, you want to read another. If you are an author, you want to write another. I am anxious to start writing book 4, but life events have forced me to put that on hold, especially since I need quiet time and solitude when I am writing. I dream of sitting by the pool with a pencil and notepad, and hopefully that will be soon. Until next week, be well, and enjoy the spring weather when it finally arrives ... Joanne

She was the most devout Catholic I have ever known, and I'm certain God recognized this and she is with him now. I miss her. In honor of Aunt Eleanor, I am giving you the gift of her quiche recipe. I have baked this dish many times; it is delicious and predictable. I usually use deli ham but...
